The below information shows patients what goes on inside North Cardiff Medical Centre. 

From number of appointments missed, number of prescriptions issued to how many calls were received from the surgery and more. 

We receive an update every month with this information and will post it here as soon as we receive it.

October was a busy month, although the number of calls received was lower than the previous month, we saw over 500 more items issued on prescription and 64 more referrals this month than previously. 

We did have fewer appointments missed this month which is a move in the right direction!

North Cardiff Medical Centre Access to GP services - May 2023 - Surgery open for 22 working days

As we head into the summer months we naturally see a bit of a dip in number of attempted calls to the surgery as people are on holiday, but we still saw over 27 thousand attempted calls for the month!

The hard working reception team are answering, on average, just over 500 calls each and every day. All whilst dealing with people coming to the front desk for appointments and enquiries and all the other admin work the team carry out every day. 

Our clinical team of Doctors, Senior Practice Nurses and Health Care assistants saw, on average, 241 patients each day we were open in the month of May. and around all of those appointments managed to sort out 360 referrals, 162 Fit notes, dealing with daily test results and all the other behind the scenes work our hard working clinical team work through each day!

April 2023 - Access to Services Data

Access to Services Data - April 2023 - Surgery open for 18 days (2 bank holidays this month)
 
A slightly quieter month of April, with only 18 days of surgeries. We were also impacted by reduced patient numbers within the area as people go away for the Easter holidays, 2 bank holidays and the Kings Coronation. This is reflected in the decrease of nearly 8000 attempted calls in April.
 
still very busy for our clinicians with 275 appointments dealt with each and every day we were open. If each appointment ran to their allotted 10 minute slot, that alone equates to nearly 46 hours of appointments each and every day across the team.
 
Although we had a quieter month, the percentage of appointments missed has gone up slightly, taking us to over 3% of all appointments missed. Although 3% might seem like a low number, it still means there are patients missing out on being able to see their GP.
 
We remind patients each and every month of the importance of keeping your appointment or contacting us to cancel should you be unable to make it.
173 appointments missed equates to 7 and a half full surgeries lost or nearly 29 hours of appointment time lost.
 
If you can't keep it, cancel it!

Here are our access to services statistics for March 2023. Surgery open for 23 working days

Quite the busy month all round with an in crease of over 6.5 thousand calls attempted in March over February and nearly 2 thousand more calls answered with only 1 extra day being open over February. This equates to nearly 600 calls answered each day. 

Unfortunately we also saw an increase in patients not attending appointments this month with 191 appointments DNA'd (did not attend) in March. This equates to 12 GP clinics. 

Our team did see 6569 appointments this month. With an increase in health reviews being carried out, our hard working clinicians saw over 1000 more patients this month compared to February.

 Appointments DNA – 158 patients did not turn up for their appointment-  the equivalent of 10 GP clinics.

North Cardiff Medical Centre Access to services - Activity Data  January 2023 - 22 working days. 
 
Another very busy month which saw our prescription team issue 31,718 items on prescription!
 
Unfortunately the number of missed appointments this month increased to 156.
 
Please remember to cancel appointments you no longer need or rearrange if you cannot attend the date you have booked. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient and reduce waiting times for nurse appointments or phlebotomy.

We received nearly 43 thousand calls in December which is a huge number of incoming calls!
 
The surgery was open for 20 days of December so a little shorter than November and with sickness also impacting on our availability but our clinicians still saw over 6000 patients!
 
We saw a reduction in the number of missed appointments this month, down to 131. A great improvement but wouldn't it be great if all appointments were not missed?

Here is Novembers snapshot of the day to day workings of NCMC.
 
Although there was a reduction in appointments, (due to staff sickness) We did see an increase in the number of calls answered, (over 17 thousand answered in under 2 minutes!) prescriptions issued and Med3's (sicknotes) issued.
 
Outside of normal surgery hours our clinicians made 1347 referrals to help patients receive the best service possible from the NHS.
 
Unfortunately we had over 200 appointments missed in November which, coupled with a reduced service due to sickness, highlights the importance of attending appointments, or cancelling should a patient be unable to attend.
